A Review of the Canon Powershot SD880 – Lightweight and Feature-Heavy

The brand has a fine reputation for well-built reliable cameras that are made with a good range of standard features. That means you don’t have to buy the most expensive model to get the capabilities you want. A good example is the Canon Powershot SD880, so we’ll take an in-depth look at this model.

- 10.0 megapixel resolution, means you can enlarge your photos substantially without extra editing.

- 3-inch PureColor LCD II screen with wide viewing angle, anti-glare and anti-scratch coating; this is a big screen that allows you to get a really good view when framing your shots or reviewing them.

- Red-eye correction can be used to detect and prevent red-eye while you’re taking pictures, or to correct for red-eye while you’re reviewing your photos, or you can locate and correct red-eye manually right on the camera screen.
- With the optional waterproof case (WP-DC26) you can take pictures underwater, too.
- Built in flash and digital macro mode.
- Print/Share capability lets you print directly from the camera to a Canon Pixma or Selphy photo printer, or transfer photos to a Mac or PC computer.
The Canon Powershot SD880 is obviously well-equipped with a variety of advanced features for a small camera. The real test is how those features perform, and whether or not the camera is user-friendly. Numerous user reviews have indicated that most people are well-satisfied with this camera; they find it simple to use out of the box and are pleased with overall performance. I take user reviews with a grain of salt, just because everyone has their own take on a camera, but if it gets a four-star rating from over 200 reviews then I’m reasonably satisfied!
