My first leica lens: is this a good deal?
I walked into one of the many second hand lens shops in my area, I found a lens that I want to purchase, it will be my first leica lens, so i wanted other people’s opinion. Sound mind.
it is a leica 50mm f/2 Summicron. I’m not sure if it is a DR or not, but it does has that finger tab on the focus ring that I like. according to leica lens guide online, it was made in 1984. (http://www.forloren.dk/lbf/leica_lens_serial.htm).
There is some dust build up inside but it is optically very clean. I couldn’t find any evidence of fogging or fungus.
cost 1000 USD or 700 GBP
any thing else? for things I should check?

The price seems high. I usually check KEH when looking at used equipment because they have very good selection and are a reliable resource (realistic prices and very conservative quality ratings).

You can also check eBay to see what similar lenses have sold for recently or if there are any current auctions for similar lenses. However, I am often amazed at what people pay at an auction compared to what they could buy outright from KEH.
I have purchased from KEH and they are very reliable and easy to deal with.
