Security Cameras 101
A security camera is a camera, which is used for surveillance and security purposes, No matter what is your reason; the one thing everyone can agree on is how good you will feel when your property is protected.
A security camera comes in many different styles and modules including dome, bullet, infrared and c-mount. The security camera that will work best for your application depends on several factors such as: whether you will use the security cameras inside or out, during the day, nighttime, or both. Resolution levels for black and white security cameras are about 400 lines, any higher and the benefits are minimal. For color cameras, the higher the resolutions the better are your images.
Dome Cameras:
Dome cameras are compact in size that can be easily installed; they provide round the clock security to the premises. These are completely enclosed cameras that are widely used in hotels, public areas and in retail operations, which demand minimal aesthetic intrusion. Some of them have high resolution with optimum scanning and excellent focus.
Bullet Cameras:
Bullet Cameras has Dual-band Lens for Day and Night function (sharp color images during the day and great black and white performance during the night), they can be Weather-proof and some of them can Detect Tampering from Blockage, Redirection or Spray-painting, and have External zoom and focus controls. Bullet cameras today are made with chip-sets that render 420 TV lines
Infrared Cameras:
Infrared cameras are a focus-free viewing, fully automatic and lightweight thermal imaging system that are ideal for surveillance, Security, Law enforcement and Military / government applications. This type of camera is capable of checking the overheat of electrical panels and transformers and Identify faults in heating and cooling systems.
C-mount Cameras:
C-mount cameras have a lot of performance in many areas of imagery and video analytics. Their style of shell, allowed for bigger circuitry and they have many options that allow you to optimize your video to adapt to any irregularities of environmental conditions or light. Remember these types of cameras do better in indoor CCTV applications. Some of the most common specifications are a 1/3″ Sony or 1/2″ Sony chip-set, BLC (back light compensation), WDR (wide dynamic range), auto iris control, and many more.
Day/Night Cameras:
Day/Night security cameras capture a great image in low light, for example; at night with streetlights or moonlight. They have a super sensitive imaging chip in them, andthis allows these cameras to work great in low light with no infrared lighting needed. It can be used indoors, building entryways and driveways.
PTZ Cameras:
Pan, Tilt Zoom (PTZ) Cameras, often referred to as dome cameras, are cameras that can be moved left to right, up and down and zoom in and out via a computer, DVR, or PTZ joystick. This type of surveillance cameras is often found at retail stores and allow the operator to follow a person as they move ,or to zoom in on someone’s face, a license plate, a cash register etc. some of them are indoor, outdoor, and internet protocol (IP) cameras, each dome camera provides full color surveillance images.
But before you install any type of security system into your home or business especially the small, “hidden” type, you should note the legal restrictions on video surveillance. In most states, anyone recording either audio or video in a specified area needs to alert anyone in range of the surveillance device that he or she is being recorded. If anyone found the camera and wasn’t previously aware of its existence, you could potentially face charges. Another thing to take in your consideration is the budget: Just like any technology, the more you spend, the better the system you get. Keep in mind however a low cost camera is better than no camera. Now, the class is over and all the questions are answered.
